Lead-Based Paint Hazards

Lead-Based Paint Hazards

Lead-Based Paint was banned for the use in houses in 1978, however, in houses built before 1978, there is a possibility that Lead-Based Paint is still present.  Dust from Lead-Based Paint is the leading cause of lead poising in children which is a serious and preventable environmental health problem for every community. In children, elevated lead exposure can cause decreased IQ, damage to the nervous system, and a range of other developmental and behavioral problems.
In Clearfield City there are residences that were built before 1978 which makes it important for information regarding this type of paint to be made available to our residents.  The Utah Department of Environmental Quality provides information for families, contractors, and training regarding Lead-Based Paint.  Please click the following link to access this important information.  The bottom of the page includes handouts and resources to download.
