Volunteer Coaches

We are always looking for volunteer coaches for our youth leagues and fishing club. If you are interested in volunteering your time, skills, and knowledge, please complete our volunteer application and background check forms. Bring your completed application to the Community Services office at 55 South State Street during regular business hours. The Clearfield police department will process your background check while you wait.

Baseball & Softball

Coed T-ball or machine pitch is for boys and girls, kindergarten to 2nd grade, (ages 5 to 8). All ages are determined as of August 31. Special request fees for a coach or another player are applied. Games are played twice a week at Kiwanis Park.

Minor league is for boys in 3rd & 4th grade. This league is designed to introduce participants to fast pitch baseball.  This is a draft league. Games are played twice a week at Fisher Park.

Major league is for boys in 5th & 6th grade. This league will build on the skills learned in the minor league. This is a draft league. Games are played twice a week at Fisher Park.

Pony league is for boys in 7th, 8th & 9th grade. This is a draft league and may combine with other cities to form a league, so some travel may be involved. Participants cannot be enrolled in high school. Games are played twice a week at Fisher Park.

Girls 3rd/4th grade softball is an instructional league to introduce girls to the basics of softball. Girls will hit off of a pitching machine. This is a draft league and may combine with other cities to form a league, so some travel may be involved. Games are played twice a week, locations to be determined.

Girls 5th/6th grade softball is a fast pitch league. This is a draft league and may combine with other cities to form a league, so some travel may be involved. Games are played twice a week, locations to be determined.

Girls junior high softball is a recreation league.  This is a draft league and may combine with other cities to form a league, so some travel may be involved. Games are played twice a week, locations to be determined.

  • Registration starts in March, and league play is May to June. A hat and shirt are supplied as part of the registration fee.

Basketball, Youth Competition League

This league is designed for boys teams 4th-12th grade looking for a more competitive basketball league. Games will be played at Clearfield Aquatic Center on Saturdays. We are offering a standard and competitive division for 4th-8th grade and high school JV or Varsity. Eight games guaranteed. Teams must provide the players with reversible jerseys with a number and an adult coach.

  • Spring registration starts in January, and league play starts in March.
  • Registration for fall starts in September, and league play starts in October.

Basketball, Jr. Jazz

Boys and girls, K-12, will play at locations throughout Clearfield. Each player will receive a game jersey, Utah Jazz game ticket, and player appearance. Special request fees for a coach or another player are applied for non-drafted leagues only.

Co-ed kindergarten - Join our league for kindergartners and enjoy watching your son or daughter learn the game of basketball. This instructional league is designed to assist players to develop the basic skills necessary to play organized basketball. The focus is fun while learning the basic fundamentals.

Co-ed 1st/2nd grade - We offer a beginner or an advanced league for 1st and 2nd grade boys and girls. The beginner league is designed to assist players who have never played and have little or no basic knowledge of the game. The advanced league is designed for players who have played Jr. Jazz in an organized setting or have an advanced skill set for their age; it is still an instructional league. There are no pre-requisites.

Girls in 3rd through 9th grade will have one practice and one game per week. Girls' 5th/6th and Jr. High are draft leagues. These leagues may combine with other cities to form a league, so some travel may be involved.

Boys in 3rd grade will play in this instructional league which is designed to assist players to develop the basic skills necessary to play organized basketball. The focus is fun while learning the basic fundamentals.

Boys in 4th through 8th grade are drafted onto teams and will have a weekday practice and Saturday games.

Boys in 9th through 12th grade may sign up as a team or individually. Players are required to have an adult coach over the age of 18 that is not playing. Leagues have weekday practice and Saturday games.

  • Registration starts in October, and league play is January-March.

Basketball Camp

Clearfield City offers a basketball camp run by Northridge High's boys basketball team head coach. Camp includes small groups for individual work on fundamentals, scrimmages, souvenir pictures, swimming breaks, contests, prizes, t-shirts and much more.The camp is for boys and girls ages 7-15. The camp is held at the Clearfield Aquatic Center.

  • Registration starts in June, and the camp is in July.

Camp Discovery

A fun, 8-week program for children 5-14 years old with park activities such as crafts, games, sports, and group activities. For an additional $5 per week, enhancement classes are available to Camp Discovery participants who wish to learn and discover more about fun topics. Enhancement classes are offered daily during Camp Discovery hours. Transportation will be provided for off-site class locations.

  • Registration starts in May, and the camp is June-August.

Fishing Club

Come learn the sport of fishing and how to be an ethical fisher at Steed Pond. In conjunction with the Division of Wildlife Resources, this six-week program will teach participants to catch some fish. We have equipment you can borrow or bring your own and enjoy an afternoon at the pond. Youth 12 & 13 years old must have a fishing license to participate (not included). Includes a free t-shirt. Parent participation is encouraged. We are always looking for fishing volunteers.

  • Registration starts in March, and the class is April-May.

Football, Flag

Boys and girls, 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th and 7th/8th/9th grade leagues, will play twice a week at Kiwanis Park and/or Fox Hollow Park. These leagues may combine with other cities to form a league, so some travel may be involved. Each player will receive an NFL flag football uniform. Special request fees for a coach or another player are applied.

  • Registration starts in July, and league play is September-October.

Football, WFFL Tackle

Youth ages 7 to 15 years (a seven-year-old child must weigh at least 40 pounds to participate; child cannot be entering 10th grade) will practice 4 days a week and play games on Saturdays.Registration will only be taken in person at the Clearfield Aquatic Center. No late registrations will be accepted.

At the time of registration, players must provide a copy of their birth certificate, proof of medical insurance, proof of residency with a water bill or other document (must be a resident of Clearfield city or live on Hill Air Force Base), a signed parental/guardian consent, and a physical and health history signed by both the parent/guardian and examining physician (dated within the previous 6 months).

  • Registration is June 1-July 14, 2017, and league play is July-October.

Golf Camp

PGA golf professionals will teach participants how to hit tee shots, iron shots, and putts. This four-day summer camp will be at Schneiter's Bluff of West Point. You can bring your own clubs or use the clubs at the course.

  • Registration starts in May and the camp is in July.

Peewee Start Smart All Sports

This 4-week class will prepare children, ages 3-5, for organized sports - soccer, baseball, basketball and football. It focuses on a variety of general skills including throwing, catching, kicking, and batting. Children will learn basic motor skills in a fun, non-competitive environment.

  • Registration starts in February for classes in March and April.
  • Registration starts in May for classes in June and July.
  • Registration starts in August for classes in September, October and November.
  • Registration starts in November for classes in January and February.

Peewee Start Smart Baseball

This 4-week class will prepare children, ages 3-5, for baseball. The class focuses on a variety of general skills including throwing, catching, and batting. Children will learn basic motor skills in a fun, non-competitive environment.

Peewee Start Smart Basketball

This 4-week class will prepare children, ages 3-5, for basketball. The class focuses on a variety of general skills including dribbling, shooting, passing and playing defense. Children will learn basic motor skills in a fun, non-competitive environment.

  • Registration starts in February for classes in March and April.
  • Registration starts in August for classes in October and November.
  • Registration starts in November for classes in January and February.

Peewee Start Smart Soccer

This 4-week class will prepare children, ages 3-5, for soccer. The class focuses on a variety of general skills including dribbling, kicking, passing and trapping a soccer ball. Children will learn basic motor skills in a fun, non-competitive environment.

  • Registration starts in May for classes in June and July.
  • Registration starts in August for class in September.

Tennis Lessons

Enjoy six, one-hour USTA lessons while learning the sport of tennis. Lessons are for youth 5 years and older, and we also offer lessons for adults. Lessons are at Clearfield High School tennis courts.

  • Registration starts in May, and lessons are in June.

Tiny Tot Soccer

Boys and girls, ages 3-4, will play eight games. Teams will consist of six players, playing 3-on-3 with no goalie. All games will be played at Barlow Park. Each participant will receive a soccer shirt and will need to provide shin guards. There is a special request fee for a coach or another player.

  • Spring registration starts in March, and league play is April-May.
  • Fall registration starts in August, and league play is September-October.

Volleyball Camp

This week-long summer camp for youth ages 9-15 will teach hitting and setting in small groups. Camp includes fundamentals, scrimmages, sportsmanship, swimming breaks, contests, prizes, t-shirts and much more. Lunch is not provided.

  • Registration starts in June, and the camp is in July.

Volleyball Clinic

This volleyball clinic for boys and girls in 3rd/4th grade or 5th/6th grade will focus on skill development, game play and fun.

  • Registration starts in February, and the camp is in March.
