Learn what it takes to run a city, from the inside out. Clearfield University is a comprehensive and interactive eight-week city government course taught by elected officials and city staff at City Hall. Class participation is required – with tours, simulations, games and more! This program is scheduled to be held on Thursday evenings, 6:30-8:30 p.m., beginning September 20, 2012. Advance registration at www.clearfieldcity.org/clearfieldu is required*. If you have any questions regarding this program, please contact the city at (801) 525-2707. The registration deadline is September 10.
Weekly topics will include city services and functions such as public utilities, police operations, the city budget, land use, boards and commissions, parks and open space, recreation opportunities, the justice court, emergency management and a city council role-play exercise. You will get an inside look at city facilities, operations and technology and have the opportunity to ask questions on important issues. You will even get a chance to further investigate why Clearfield City has “got it made” by touring some of our city’s manufacturers and businesses. Come learn what it takes to run and care for a city of Clearfield’s size.
*There is a $20 refundable registration fee, based on class attendance. If you attend at least six of the required classes and complete the homework assignments, the fee will be refunded after completion of the course.
