Clearfield Voters Needed Print E-mail
Thursday, 29 October 2009

voiting_map.jpgYou’ve seen the signs, literally; candidate signage has been placed strategically around the city as we draw closer to the municipal elections this November. Clearfield citizens will be voting for mayor and two City Council seats. In addition, Davis County residents will be voting on whether to approve a $250 million building improvement and construction bond for Davis School District. Visit your election polling station November 3rd, or vote early, and exercise your right as an American citizen to be heard! As the Davis County Votes website* points out many local Utah elections have been won by a margin of just one vote, or even a flip of a coin in the case of a tied vote. Let’s not let that happen in Clearfield. Following is information on the candidates, the bond issue, and when and where to vote.

Due to the cost of electronic voting, Clearfield City has opted to use paper ballots this year, according to Nancy Dean, Clearfield’s City Recorder.

“The city website has a link to the 2009 election,” said Dean. “Residents will be able to watch the election results on election night via the link.”

Voting

Effective in 2009 all voters will be required to present identification before being allowed to vote (Utah Code 20A-3-104). Valid voter identification consists of:

A form of identification that bears the name and photograph of the voter which may include:
- a currently valid Utah driver’s license
-a currently valid identification card that is issued by the state, a branch, department, or agency of the United States
-a currently valid Utah permit to carry a concealed weapon
-a currently valid United States passport, or
-a valid tribal identification card, whether or not the card includes a photograph of the voter

For additional identification options please visit the city website at www.clearfieldcity.org and click on “2009 Election” on the left side of the screen.

The proposed $250 million bond will allow the Davis School District to build new schools and renovate existing schools, designed to help handle the school district’s continued growth. Plans include:

-New junior high in West Kaysville
-Three new elementary schools in West Layton, West Point, and a location to still be determined based on growth
